Ways to give

God Behind Bars exists to bring inmates to Christ and connect them to the local church. Through immersive events, digital discipleship, and in-prison campuses, lives are being transformed inside America’s prisons. The following opportunities outline key ways for partners to make measurable impact nationwide.

Family Reunifications

Family Reunification Events are powerful, emotional days inside men’s and women’s prisons that focus entirely on rebuilding family relationships. These events create meaningful opportunities for parents and children to reconnect, share meals, laugh together, and experience quality time that would otherwise be impossible behind prison walls. We host several types of reunification events throughout the year, including holiday gatherings, back to school celebrations, and our newest addition, the Daddy Daughter Dances. Each one is uniquely designed to meet families where they are, offering hope, encouragement, and connection that strengthens the family unit both inside and outside of prison. The goal is simple, to restore relationships and remind families that love, forgiveness, and unity are still possible, even in the hardest of circumstances.

“I was one foot in the world and one foot in the church. But here at Angola, worship helped me truly find Jesus. Now I’ve got peace, even in prison.

I’ve got two daughters, Don V and Teagan. I’ve missed first days of school and dance recitals, but I can’t wait for the father-daughter dance — it’ll feel like we’re together outside, not just in a prison visit.”

Daddy Daughter Dances

The Daddy Daughter Dance is one of the most transformative experiences we host. Inside the prison chapel, fathers who have missed birthdays, milestones, and school dances are reunited with their daughters for a night filled with joy, laughter, and healing. Fathers escort their daughters down a decorated aisle, share a meal together, and spend the evening dancing and talking face to face. It is a night of redemption and grace, reminding fathers of their identity as dads and showing daughters that they are still loved and valued. Many describe this evening as life changing, a memory that renews hope for the future and restores the bond between father and child.

Flagship Initiatives

God Behind Bars is transforming lives behind prison walls through a series of ongoing, flagship initiatives that bring lasting hope and discipleship to incarcerated men and women. At the core are our Prison Campuses—thriving church communities planted inside correctional facilities, where inmates gather weekly for worship, teaching, and small groups led by local church partners. The PandoApp extends that ministry digitally, delivering sermons, worship, Bible studies, and faith-based content to inmates nationwide on their personal tablets. Through the TUMI (Urban Ministry Institute) program, we equip incarcerated believers with seminary-level training, empowering them to become pastors, mentors, and leaders who transform prison culture from within. And through our Revival Events and Concerts, we bring the Gospel to entire facilities with high-impact gatherings of preaching, worship, testimonies, and baptisms—igniting spiritual movements that continue long after the event ends.
