Mississippi was incredible!

Our friend Johnny Chang spoke and the men listened!

Last week, we walked into East Mississippi Correctional Facility for what we thought would be a powerful event, but we had no idea just how much God was going to move. We had the honor of bringing in Johnny Chang, a former gang member and ex-inmate whose story has reached millions online. But this time, he wasn’t speaking to strangers on a screen, he was face-to-face with men who had lived the same life he once did.

Johnny shared how he was raised in violence, joined a gang as a teenager, and ended up in solitary confinement. It was there, behind bars, completely alone that Jesus met him and everything changed. As he spoke, the men leaned in. They saw pieces of themselves in all of it, and you could tell a hunger for truth was stirring. After he shared his testimony, we opened the floor for a live Q&A. The men were able to ask Johnny all kinds of questions in regards to their faith and what scripture says. And they didn't ask shallow questions, their questions were deep and heartfelt. For a moment, shame and pain gave way to honesty and hope. Johnny didn’t preach at them. He sat in it with them and as he responded with scripture, grace, and truth.

By the end of the day, dozens of men gave their lives to Jesus! Even more stepped forward to be baptized- men who came in hardened by life, now publicly declaring they belong to Christ. This is the kind of night we pray for. And this is what your support makes possible.Thank you for believing in a God who still moves in the most unexpected places, and for helping us bring the gospel to the ones the world has written off.
