NFL Players Bring The Super Bowl Into Prison!

In the same city where the Super Bowl was happening, where the attention of the world was fixed on stadium lights and celebrity events, a group of NFL players chose to spend their time somewhere else.

We had an AMAZING time somewhere other than the stadium... in the same city where the Superbowl was happening...

Our friends, Will Anderson Jr., Daniel Thomas, Will Shipley, Gerald McCoy, K.J. Wright, Ty Montgomery, and Rashad Jennings walked through the gates of San Quentin State Prison to sit with incarcerated men and remind them that their lives still matter. When we gathered together, 120+ incarcerated men filled the room. We shared a conversation around faith, family, and football, and the players shared their stories honestly. They talked about pressure, mistakes, identity, and the moments that shaped their faith. What made it so special was that there was no posturing, no trying to impress, just real people speaking truth to other real people. Will Anderson Jr. said in tears, "Just to be sitting in this room... God literally takes the least likely and uses him to spread His Word. You guys are such an inspiration to me. What God did back then, He is STILL doing now. He's still changing lives!"

We worshiped together and it was so powerful! Prayers were spoken over one another. Encouragement was shared freely. Men were reminded that their past does not define them and that their dreams are still worth fighting for.

By the end of the day, more than 30 men made the decision to follow Jesus! Eight men were baptized right there inside the prison.

In a city celebrating football greatness, God was writing a very different kind of story- one rooted in humility, restoration, and hope. This is why we go behind bars. Because no one is forgotten. No one is unseen. And no one is beyond redemption!

Thank you for being part of this work and helping make moments like this possible! What happened inside San Quentin will continue to bear fruit long after this day.
